The sporting industry came out in force this year to visit SMex, the specialist event for the sports merchandise industry at Wembley Stadium. Visitors from the premiership football clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and those from overseas including RCD Espanyol, Hamburg, PSV NV and VfB Stuttgart joined ASDA, Llanelli Scarlets, London Wasps, Munster Rugby, and Warwickshire CCC to take advantage of the opportunity to source sports merchandise products from over 125 companies.
Buyers from more than 20 countries attended the exhibition, now firmly establishing SMex as the foremost sports merchandise event for the whole of Europe. Event Director, Jeremy Storey-Walker said ‘We are delighted with the success of the 2009 event, especially with our visitor numbers increasing by over 25%. It’s now more crucial than ever for clubs to find new merchandise products that will work for them. SMex is the only event in their calendars that allows them to see all of the products in one place.”
The exhibitors too were happy with the show, Rebecca Smith from Filofax said "As first-time exhibitors at SMex this year we had an incredibly successful show - we saw a steady stream of buyers throughout the day, made some very valuable new sales contacts, and even took quotes for new business on the stand - roll on next year!" Mark Reynolds from Jutexpo commented that, “the recent SMex show has proved to be a fantastic success as a launch pad for our natural re-usable jute bags within the sporting and football community.”
The event will return to Wembley Stadium on 8th March 2010 and with over 45 companies already rebooked to exhibit, the show looks set fair to be even bigger and better than this year. You can find out more by visiting http://www.smexwembley.com/ or by contacting the organisers on 020 7798 8500
