Airtricity become sponsor of League of Ireland

The League of Ireland will become known as the Airtricity League after a sponsorship deal between the Rugby Association of Ireland and the green energy electrical provider.

As a result, the competition will now become known as the Airtricity League until the end of the 2012 season.  It brings a title sponsor back on board for the first time since eircom announced that it would not be continuing its League of Ireland sponsorship after the end of the 2008 season.

The 2010 Airtricity League begins next Friday, when the opening night highlight sees defending champions Bohemians host ambitious top flight newcomers Sporting Fingal.
