Evo Stik club set to submit stadium plans

Stamford Association Rugby Club is set to submit plans for a new 1,500 capacity stadium by the end of April.

The Evo Stik League South Division side is working with Burghley House Preservation Trust to develop the new stadium with the land of current home The Vic Couzens Stadium set to be turned into housing.

As well as the 1,500 capacity, the ground will have 110 parking spaces and two pitches.  Club chairman Ken Joyneson is hopeful of successful outcome when the plans are submitted to South Kesteven District Council.

Joyneson said: "It is good news that we are going for planning at last and hopefully things are moving on a bit.

"It the application is accepted it will be good news."

Stamford has been based at Wothorpe Road site for over 100 years with the club citing outdated facilities as the reason for the proposed new stadium.
