JD Sports set to make profit

JD Sports is expecting to 'significantly exceed' profit targets afer a hectic Christmas sales period.

Crain's Manchester reported that overall like for like sales for the five weeks to January 2 were up 6.6 per cent. The sports stores, JD and Size, increased sales by 5.9 per cent compared with last year and the Bank and Scotts fashion stores were up 9.7 per cent.

Bury-based JD said in a trading update that this was
