Manchester United sign new deal in Africa

Manchester United have furthered the global reach of their brand after agreeing a deal with Nigerian mobile phone provider Globacom to help young footballers in West Africa.

According to Nigerian publication ThisDay, the five-year sponsorship deal will provide a unique opportunity for West African cadets to have an international exposure to top of the range training facilities at the Manchester United Soccer Academy.

Players from Ghana, Nigeria and Benin would benefit from the deal.

The amount involved in the deal is not yet known. The deal will however be unveiled to the media at Old Trafford November 6, 2009.

Globacom which is the sixth mobile phone company to be licensed in Ghana is yet to start operations but the company has laid cables for its fibre optic in the country
