Middlesex FA sign up with Wear The Shirt

The Middlesex County FA has today signed a deal with new media company Wear The Shirt that will significantly boost grassroots football in the county.

The partnership has the potential to generate much-needed revenue for clubs who participate in the new and exciting initiative which is a revolutionary innovation for the game at this level.

Wear The Shirt was founded in January with the aim of overcoming the major funding difficulties experienced by most, if not all, grassroots clubs.

Clubs or teams can create their own personalised monthly magazine - including team news, manager's column, picture spreads, players of the month and statistics - which is then combined with features from the professional game.

Rio Ferdinand and Rafael van der Vaart are just two of the stars featured in the first edition of the printed magazine, along with tips from Reading FC Academy boss Eamonn Dolan, a youngster's guide to visiting Upton Park and the chance to win Lionel Messi's flame orange adidas boots.

It is a unique opportunity for each grassroots club, with the initial emphasis on youth level, to follow the likes of Oxford City West FC and be the star in their own version of a FourFourTwo style publication every month, and potentially make significant amounts of money from it.

Wear The Shirt founder Craig Rutherford said: "WTS can help grassroots clubs to find new ways through media, digital and print to generate income while engaging with their players, supporters, sponsors and wider community.

"Our plan is to embrace the passion, pride, enthusiasm and commitment shown within Middlesex and develop a platform for all member clubs to benefit from extra funds.

"This will help improve facilities, coaching and participation, and to provide Middlesex County FA clubs with the security and confidence to build for the future."

Middlesex County FA chief executive Peter Clayton said: "We are always looking for new ways to help our clubs to develop and grow and we believe that our clubs can only benefit significantly from working with Wear The Shirt.

"We are delighted to be working with Wear The Shirt and will liaise closely with both them and our member clubs to help all concerned to maximise the opportunity available to them."

Clubs who register with Wear The Shirt will be able to upload their own pictures and news to a fixed template magazine each month via a secure log-in on the website. Orders, from five upwards, will then be printed and dispatched within three days.

WTS will print 10 editions per season, along with tournament and club awards special edition magazines. The magazines will be 16 pages and include regular news from the Middlesex FA for clubs within their region. Clubs can make a minimum of
