Online football no match for TV
A recent poll has shown that television is still the medium of choice for the vast amount of football spectators.
The research, conducted by YouGov Plc, asked almost 1000 adults who intended to watch football matches, how they were most likely to view them. At home proved to be the most popular choice with a staggering 74% of the vote, followed by at a pub or a club with 12%.
Shockingly just 3% of those asked planned to visit a football ground and despite clubs and broadcasters alike attempting to cash in on online streaming, just 2% of participants said they are likely to stream football to a computer at home.
The results may prove disappointing for Yahoo who back in April won a multi million pound bidding war with Virgin Media for the online distribution rights for football highlights.
