Rushden denied Evostik league entry in latest blow
Rushden & Diamonds have been denied entry into the Evostik Southern Premier League, further adding to woes of the cash-crippled club.
The Northamptonshire side were placed into administration on Wednesday and earlier this summer were thrown out of the Blue Square Conference for financial reasons.
The Diamonds had hoped to drop down to the Evostik league but that move now looks in doubt after the club failed to convince competition organisors of their ability to fulfill fixtures.
In a statement the league said that Rushden had "failed to meet the League's conditions for entry into the League by the due date of 6 July."
The Nene Park club now look threatened with extinction with the administrator admitting that the club are no longer "in a position to continue trading".
