Saracens Appoint Former Sharks and Brive Chief Ed Coetzee as New CEO

Saracens have confirmed the appointment of experienced rugby administrator and former professional player Ed Coetzee as the club’s new chief executive officer.

The Premiership club have turned to the former Sharks and Brive executive following the departure of Charlie Beall, who stepped down from the role at StoneX Stadium at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Coetzee, 46, brings extensive experience from both rugby and sports administration. During his playing career, the former prop made more than 300 professional appearances, spending four seasons with the Sharks in South Africa before enjoying six years in France with Bayonne and Biarritz.

Following his retirement from playing, Coetzee moved into rugby administration, initially serving as commercial and marketing director at the Sharks before progressing to chief operating officer and later chief executive officer in 2019. He has most recently held the CEO position at French side Brive since 2024.

Saracens will now look to benefit from Coetzee’s leadership experience as the club continues its development on and off the field.

Speaking after his appointment, Coetzee outlined his ambitions for the role and the direction he hopes to take the club.

He said: "My focus is to build on the strong foundations already in place, fostering a culture where high performance, accountability and continuous improvement underpin everything we do.

"Our goal is not only to achieve sustained success on the field, but to establish Saracens as one of the most admired and respected sporting organisations in the world of rugby."

The appointment represents a significant addition to Saracens' leadership team as the club prepares for the next chapter under Coetzee's stewardship, with a focus on both sporting success and continued organisational growth.
