Watmore steps down as FA chief executive

The FA have confirmed that chief executive Ian Watmore has resigned from his position after only nine months in the role since succeeding Brian Barwick.

It is rumoured that the decision is a mixture of anger and frustration at what he saw as attempts by some members of the board, allegedly the Premier League repre­sen­ta­tives, to undermine his power.
