Wigan's George Williams attracts interest from New Zealand Warriors

Reports suggest New Zealand Warriors are on the hunt to bring in Wigan halfback George Williams.

Multiple clubs are interested, but rumours  from down under claim the Warriors are in the drivers seat for his signature.

Canberra were willing to give the Wigan player a three-year contract, if he were to sign on the dotted line with them.

It will come at a cost to prise away the the 24-year-old, as Wigan will demand a large sum to part ways with their leading man. As an Academy standout Wigan turned down  £400,000 offer to let him go back in 2017.

Williams seems destined to leave the current Super League Champions, with an opportunity to play in the NRL within touching distance.

Newcastle seemed to have cooled their initial interest and are no longer in the race to purchase the player. The quality of Kalyn Ponga at Newcastle has played a role in their decision.
