Bradford Bulls Secured Super League Return for 2026 After Earning Top Grade B Status

Bradford Bulls will make their long-awaited return to Super League in 2026 after being awarded the highest Grade B rating under rugby league’s new grading system — replacing Salford Red Devils in the top flight.

The decision marks the Bulls’ first appearance in Super League since 2014, following an 11-year spell marred by financial struggles and even a stint in League One in 2018.

Former head coach Brian Noble returned to the club in 2025 and guided Bradford to a third-place finish in the Championship. Although their play-off hopes ended at the semi-final stage against eventual champions Toulouse, the club’s strong off-field progress has seen them move up the rankings from 16th in 2024 to 10th in 2025.

The grading system, run by media group IMG as part of Rugby League Commercial’s “Reimagining Rugby League” initiative, evaluates clubs on both sporting performance and commercial strength. Bradford’s score placed them above existing Super League sides Castleford Tigers and Huddersfield Giants, who ranked 11th and 12th respectively.

Salford Red Devils, meanwhile, have been relegated after receiving a lower B grade, placing them 15th in the rankings. The club has faced ongoing financial difficulties despite a recent takeover, including late wage payments and a significant player exodus, and finished bottom of the Super League this season.

Further announcements are expected on Friday at 10:00 BST regarding which two other Championship clubs will join Bradford in an expanded 14-team Super League for 2026.
