Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors to Face Off in Paris for 2026 Super League Anniversary
Catalans Dragons will take on Wigan Warriors in Paris on 6 June 2026 to celebrate two major milestones in rugby league history — the 20th anniversary of Catalans’ debut in Super League and the 30th anniversary of the competition itself.
The fixture will take place at the Stade Jean-Bouin, home of Stade Français rugby union club, marking the return of professional rugby league to the French capital for the first time in decades.
Super League launched on 29 March 1996, when Paris Saint-Germain hosted Sheffield Eagles at the Charlety Stadium. The 2026 match brings the sport full circle, with Catalans Dragons president Bernard Guasch calling it a "great honour" to return to the city where the league began.
“This event will not only celebrate Super League’s history,” Guasch said, “but it will also be a powerful moment for French rugby league and fans across Europe.”
Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski echoed those sentiments, recalling his own appearance in Super League’s inaugural season. “It’s a great honour to take our sport back to Paris,” he said. “Now, to return with Wigan to face Catalans is another landmark moment.”
This will be Catalans' first high-profile venue relocation since their 2019 clash with Wigan at Camp Nou in Barcelona, which drew a record Super League crowd of 31,555.
