Hull KR Unveil £Multi-Million Craven Park Sports Village Plan After Challenge Cup Triumph

Fresh off their historic Challenge Cup victory at Wembley, Hull Kingston Rovers have submitted a major planning application to redevelop the Craven Park area into a state-of-the-art sports and retail hub.

The proposed transformation includes the creation of a sports village with multiple full-size rugby pitches—dedicated spaces for the first team, academy, and community use—as well as new indoor courts for basketball, netball, and padel.

Alongside the sports facilities, the project includes plans for a retail park with over 400 car parking spaces, aiming to drive footfall and community engagement in East Hull.

A revamped "fanwalk" is also central to the proposal. The new boulevard will be tree- and flag-lined, linking Preston Road directly to the stadium, creating an enhanced matchday experience for supporters.

Hull KR said the ambitious development aligns with their goal to become “the biggest rugby club in the northern hemisphere.”

This major infrastructure push follows the club’s first major silverware in four decades and signals a bold new chapter in both on-field ambition and community development.
